Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you get started.
I’ve never had therapy before. What’s the process?
It begins with a first appointment and up to four trial sessions in which we get to know each other. After that, the actual therapy is applied for. Sessions usually take place weekly and last 50 minutes.
What happens in a first appointment?
We get to know each other. You describe your concerns and current symptoms, and together we work out whether psychotherapy is right for you and whether we are a good match.
Am I even “ill” enough for therapy?
You don’t need to be in a deep crisis. Distress, considerable strain in everyday life or the wish for mental health support are reason enough for a first appointment.
What is the difference between individual and group therapy?
Individual therapy focuses entirely on you and your concerns. Group therapy also offers exchange with people in a similar situation, a protected setting in which to try out new behaviors, and the experience of not being alone with your problems.
Can I start therapy here if I have statutory health insurance?
As this is a private practice, I cannot bill statutory health insurers directly. Under certain conditions, the cost reimbursement procedure (Kostenerstattungsverfahren) may be an option. Feel free to ask me about it.
How much does therapy cost?
Private health insurers and Beihilfe offices usually cover the costs in full once an application has been approved. You can find all fees on the Fees page.
Can therapy take place online?
Yes. Video sessions are a flexible alternative. After a first appointment in person, many sessions can take place online, with your data protected.
How long is the wait for a therapy place?
That depends on how busy the practice currently is. A first appointment is often possible at short notice, but there may be a wait before regular therapy begins. It is best to ask directly about current availability.
Your question wasn’t answered?
There is room for all your questions in a first appointment. In Munich or online. Sessions are available in German and English.
