Psychotherapy & counseling for burnout at Psymondo

For private patients and self-payers

Burnout is a state of deep emotional, physical and mental exhaustion. It usually develops from chronic overload and long-term stress. It often affects people who started with great commitment, high standards and a lot of heart, whether at work, in caring for others or in everyday life. When your energy reserves are permanently drained, the original motivation gives way to a lasting sense of emptiness, cynicism and of no longer being able to cope.

I support you in pausing, understanding the causes of your exhaustion, and step by step regaining energy, the ability to set boundaries, and workable solutions.

A brief overview of the facets and phases of burnout

1. The gradual beginning (over-commitment)

Strong ambition, a need to prove yourself, or pressure to keep going even under high, ongoing strain. Your own needs, such as sleep, breaks and hobbies, are increasingly put aside in favor of performance and duties.

2. Exhaustion & distancing

Persistent tiredness, sleep problems and physical complaints such as headaches, stomach or digestive problems and muscle tension. To protect themselves, many people develop an inner distance, cynicism or indifference towards work and other people.

3. Declining performance & inner emptiness

Problems with concentration, forgetfulness and reduced performance, even though the workload remains high. A deep sense of meaninglessness, emptiness and failure develops.

The pillars of my burnout treatment

1. Acute relief & understanding the causes

  • Understanding: Distinguishing external stressors (work pressure, environment) from inner stress amplifiers (perfectionism, helper syndrome, the urge to keep going).
  • Relief: Reducing acute strain, setting priorities and creating protected space for recovery.

2. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) & boundaries

  • Saying no & setting boundaries: Learning to set healthy limits at work and in your private life, without feeling guilty.
  • Letting go of perfectionism and the pressure to keep going: Developing realistic expectations of yourself and letting go of inner drivers such as "I have to achieve this at all costs".

3. Self-care & building resources

  • Stress regulation: Learning relaxation techniques and methods for physical and mental recovery.
  • Values: Redefining professional and personal goals for a balanced life.
